CVGA: The Collective of Video Game Artisans

CVGA (The Collective of Video Game Artisans) is a collective that acts as a publisher for small indie developers. It exists to give small indie creators a chance to compete with big players and gain visibility in the marketplace.

What We Do

The Collective has a simple mission:

  • Act as a publisher for small indie developers without taking revenue share
  • Help regroup small content creators and indie devs
  • Provide visibility and marketing tools to member studios
  • Enable members to use collective marketing tools like genre-specific sales and group listings

No Strings Attached

What makes CVGA different:

  • No revenue share: You keep 100% of your sales (aside the tax and Steam part... )
  • No exclusivity: Keep your own publisher, just add CVGA as an additional one
  • No binding contracts: Your game is yours — it's just represented by the collective
  • Join anytime, leave anytime: Complete freedom with no penalties
  • Completely free to join: No membership fees

How It Works on Steam

On Steam, you simply need to add a publisher called "The Collective of Video Game Artisans". You don't need to remove your main publisher — CVGA complements your existing setup. This enables:

  • A unified list of all collective games by genre or category
  • Publisher-wide sales (e.g., a sale for all racing games in the collective)
  • Increased visibility through grouped marketing efforts
  • Community strength: Being part of a collective of like-minded developers

The Vision

The creator of CVGA is also a small indie developer who struggled (and still struggles ;) ) with marketing and visibility. The goal is simple: give small artisans a fighting chance against the big players. Many great indie games fail not because of poor quality, but because they're drowned out by corporate marketing budgets. CVGA exists to change that.

How to Join

There are two ways to add yourself to the Collective:

  1. If you're familiar with GitHub: Clone the repository, add your content, and submit a pull request.
  2. If you prefer to avoid GitHub: Contact us at cvga@theGiantBall.com and we'll help you get set up.

If your games are on Steam, we have a Python tool that automatically generates your page from your Steam data. Otherwise, you can create a custom page following our templates.

Support the Collective

While joining is completely free, donations are welcome and greatly appreciated! Your support helps us continue improving the collective and supporting our members. Donations allow us to reinvest in better tools, visibility, and resources for all members.
